Marvin “Bud” Schweikl
Bud was born on July 25, 1924 in Enumclaw, WA to George and Lempi Schweikl. He grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1942 from Enumclaw High School. Later that year he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corp. where he served in the 1st Marine Division during WWII on Okinawa and Pelilu, China. Bud was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. On June 28, 1947 he married Joan Lochridge and together they raised 4 children. Graduating from Seattle Pacific University with a masters degree in education Bud went on to teach from 1953 - 1981 at Auburn High School as well as Green River Community College. Being a teacher and a coach of Baseball, Basketball and Football, Bud touched thousands of kid's lives and everywhere he went former students and players always stopped him to talk. Bud moved his family back to the family farm in 1979 where he raised dairy replacement heifers for some of the local dairy farms, enjoying in his spare time fishing, hunting, horseback riding and golf. In 1998 after Joan lost her battle with cancer he met Doris Thompson and they were married in November 1999. The farm got to be too much for Bud and in 2000 he moved to Orting, WA. Bud passed away on December 6, 2007. He is survived by his wife Doris and 3 children, 6 grand children and 1 great grand child. Service: Memorial Service, Wed., Dec. 12, 2p at Weeks' Enumclaw Funeral Home Memorials may be made to: Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Research, PO Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109.
